Who We Are
John Greene
Founder
Dean Kaman, the inventor of the Segway once said, "We have to show kids that not all the
heroes wear uniforms. When they go pro in science and technology, they'll be as famous, as
influential, as impactful, and as well compensated as anyone who goes pro in sports." Inspired by this quote, Coach Greene relinquished coaching sports and GEARS STEM Academy was born!
Now in his fifth year at GEARS, Coach Greene serves as founder, Lead Creative Director and Lead Instructor. His vision is to engage children of all backgrounds and learning styles in the
ever-expanding world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Coach Greene’s expertise is translating what seems to be complicated concepts in STEM into a
learnable platform that is both fun and interactive for children. Coach Greene also serves as Lead Mentor for The Gadgeteers, a local high school FIRST Robotics Competition team in St.
Augustine, FL.
Coach Green’s passion for STEM education is not just a career; it is a calling. He is dedicated to continuing this mission, empowering young minds, and making a lasting impact in the field of
education.
Coach Greene holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Math and Technology and a
Master’s degree in Theology.
Mearys Greene
Co-Founder
Mrs. Mearys, as students call her, coaches and mentors students while managing enrollment for after-school, winter, and summer camps.

Before GEARS, she worked as a Software Developer and Talent Acquisition Manager in the tech sector. As a founding teacher at a local private school, she is passionate about improving the lives of children and their families. She loves encouraging students to tackle challenging subjects with patience and hard work.

Mrs. Mearys holds a Master's in Theology and a Bachelor's in Computer Science. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, strength training, beach outings, and spending time with family and friends.
